Food and Gastronomy in Roussillon are definitely part of the typical way of life!

Reputed for its regional products, the Roussillon region offers authentic and delicious cuisine based upon an abundant supply of fresh fruit, vegetables, olive oil, artisanal cheeses, fresh local meat, fish and seafood.  Catalonia is known for its proud artisan food production, as well as its interesting and modern interpretations of traditional dishes. Catalan cuisine has enjoyed a gastronomic resurgence during recent years and there is no shortage of excellent fine dining restaurants throughout the area.

Whether you choose to eat on the terrace of traditional bistro or dine in the elegance of a Michelin rated or Toque Blanche restaurant, there are gastronomic delights in store for all tastes and budgets.

The winemaking industry in Roussillon is one of the oldest and largest of the world. Historically, often a producer of cheap or affordable wines for the masses, Roussillon is now going through a complete renaissance, with many producers and vignerons re-thinking their wines, investing in vineyards and quality equipment, and bringing their production’s level of refinement right up. Many are also shifting their traditional ways to supply the promising and ever-growing markets for organic wines.  The vignerons of the region now pride themselves on their wide range of stunning reds, whites, rosés as well as "Vin Doux" .

Many of the local vineyards offer wine tasting and tours.
